The Basic Sports Injuries Guide course is the introductory and accredited stage provided by the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) . This course is designed to serve as the scientific and practical gateway for anyone seeking fundamental knowledge in sports injuries, focusing on prevention, initial management, and athlete protection across various sports disciplines.

The course aims to provide trainees with core concepts of common injuries, their causes, mechanisms of occurrence, and risk reduction strategies, alongside the primary principles of first aid and proper response when an injury occurs. This course is an essential foundational step for coaches, athletes, and anyone interested in physical safety and sports health, paving the way for advanced levels in sports science and training.

Learning Outcomes: 

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

  1. Define and classify sports injuries.
  2. Understand the causes of injuries and methods of prevention.
  3. Identify common sports-related injuries.
  4. Explain the body's physiological response to injury and the fundamental principles of assessment.

Duration of Study: 

The course consists of 20 training hours, which must be completed within a maximum period of three months from the date of registration.

Eligibility:

 This course is intended for anyone wishing to enter the world of sports health and understand its scientific and practical foundations. No prior experience is required, making it ideal for beginners, coaches, and health and fitness enthusiasts alike.

Examinations and Passing Criteria: 

All theoretical exams at SAST are conducted electronically via the platform. Questions are randomly selected from a question bank based on the scientific curriculum, with immediate grading and results displayed upon completion.

1. Quizzes (Modular Exams):

Students must pass mandatory quizzes before proceeding to the final exam:

  1. Each quiz consists of a maximum of 10 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  2. Time limit: One minute per question.
  3. Passing score: 80%.
  4. Unlimited attempts are allowed for quizzes.

The final exam cannot be accessed until all quizzes are successfully completed.

2. Final Theoretical Exam:

  1. Eligible only after passing all mandatory quizzes.
  2. Passing score: 60%.
  3. Consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  4. Time limit: 50 minutes from the start of the exam.
  5. Students are allowed a maximum of two attempts to pass the final exam.

Graduation Certificate: 

Upon successful completion of the studies and exams, the student will receive a certificate of completion. It is sent directly to their email and stored in their personal profile on the academy's platform. The certificate is officially accredited and documented by:

  1. Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST)
  2. Global Council of Sport Science (GCSS)
  3. International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
  4. Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment (MFPE) – For Tunisian students
